Artist Paul Wong, looking at photographer Brian Howell at the latter’s Carts exhibit at Winsor Gallery.
Just a candid moment I caught while trying to get these two to uncandidly pose for my WE column last night.
Howell was driving through the downtown eastside one day and saw someone with a shopping cart full of compelling knick-knacks. He stopped and asked to take a photograph of the cart, to which the person told Howell he could buy it and do whatever he wanted with it.
So Howell bought it, thus starting a buying spree of more than 40 other DTES carts, of which he photographed 25 for this exhibit.
