Reese's Piece.
Love her or hate her—though most seem to love her—Reese Witherspoon still holds the title of reigning America’s Sweetheart (though Anne Hathaway is shaping up to be the heir apparent, methinks). I don’t particularly love or hate Reese, but I certainly do respect (some of) her work—kudos to her Tracy Enid Flick and June Carter Cash characters—and do respect everything about the way she...

A Dapper Gent.
Here’s veteran NBC Nightly News anchor, Tom Brokaw, looking like a very, very dapper gent. Let’s list the multiple trends he’s done good pulling off: Bowtie. Velvet. Tone-on-tone (black, in this case). Pocket square. That’s a worth reporting on. Besos, Haute Hippie I’m Lovin’ it: Tumblr. Stay tuned for mine to launch in the coming weeks. I’m Over it:...
She's Come Undone.
Giovanna Battaglia is every style photo-blogger’s dream shot of the day. The model-turned-L’Uomo Vogue fashion editor rubbernecks heads with her patrician good looks, impeccable fashion sense and slick low bun with center part. This is precisely why I love this particular shot, taken by The Sartorialist of her, with hair loose and slightly mussed. Not to mention soft-tough marriage of...
It's The Little Things.
For years, I’ve schlepped around a RBB (Really Big Bag). There was no discrimination between shoulder-slung or body-slung style; the only requirement was that it was large enough to fit my wallet, my eyelash curler and the kitchen sink. As time went on, the idea of blindly fishing around my RBB for housekeys (especially late at night) grew less and less appealing, as did the growing pain on...
Color Me Happy.
The blue palette in this image from a new Rizzoli coffee table book on French brand Kenzo is calming to me for some reason. Maybe it’s because the color effect is mildly the same as the settings I have on my iPhone’s Hipstamatic? In any case, I find the languorous pose, blue on blue tones, strong prints and peek-a-boo foot tattoo altogether stunning. * Photo property of Kezno,...
Wishery.
Nick Bertke, also know as Pogo, once worked producing for Walt Disney Motion Pictures Studios. During that time, he created a collection of songs by chopping up and putting back together sound bits and pieces of well-loved Disney cartoons. His newest creation is ‘Wishery’, which samples Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from 1937. It’s a musical, trip-hop masterpiece, as is the...
Fashion Maje(r).
I can’t even begin to imagine how I’d handle the fashionable life of a Traina sister (that’s Vanessa, Samantha and Victoria to all of you), if I had been born one of them. I’m taking a work break to both blog and catch up on my sartorial sites, and although I’m doing this draped in my brown faux fur shoulder shrug (my apartment’s chilly, I swear!), faux gold...
Shoulder To Shoulder.
Sometimes an item of clothing has a detail, a drape, an embellishment that makes me catch my breath. The beaded shoulder and low back on the navy dress in this shot from Tommy Ton did just that to me this morning. It could be the amazing je ne sais quoi its wearer has, too, but that shoulder is for sure the first thing I saw. I’m going to go bedazzle all the shoulders on my sweaters now. ...
(Clare and) the Reasons D'Etre.
Brooklyn band Clare and the Reasons covers Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” (in a folksy-ethereal way). It’s by and large one of my favorite ’80s tracks, that was also incidentally covered by Nas, back in the ’90s (with Amerie as the chorus’ voice). Yep. All these versions rule.
