Happy All Hallow's Eve!

Freak, ghouls, geeks, witches, warlocks, men in fake uniform and the politically incorrect will be flooding streets tonight, armed with a costumed excuse to indulge in drunken shenanigans.

Oh well. Halloween this year falls on Friday night, so TGIF to us all!

My evening’s attire will complement that of four or five of my other girlfriends, as the Deal or No Deal Girls. Apparently our uniform for the night consists of short black dresses, heels and silver poker cases with numbers (I bought mine for $10 off Craigslist from a very nice dude by the name of Drew). So I’m going with my trusty strapless, 80-esque dress (tight on the bottom, blouson through the middle), my Calvin Klein booties, gold hardware (never leave home without it) and some Michael Kors shimmer stick on the legs.

It’s an easy costume and best done in a group, which is totally fine by me. My girl C-Ra is going as Barbie-In-A-Box — a totally rad idea, by the way — but much too much work on a one night’s-use outfit for me.

So kids…deal…or no deal…

I’m Lovin’ it: The new umbrella I got today works SO much better than the cheap, crappy one I got from H&M that busted within two days. My hair is thanking me profusely on this rainy day right now.

I’m Over it: Is it just me or do iPhones take forever to connect calls?? Well, mine does. Not good. Oh, and is it me or is the iPhone supposed to NOT let you know you’ve missed a call or even let it go through? Yeah. Not good. Again.

Track of the Day: “Throw Your Hands Up” by The So So Glos from Brooklyn, NY. It’s definitely Brooklyn-esque indie rock type music with a few faint, catchy handclapping sections. Lots of high hat hits, too.

I Love When This Happens!

Got an email today with the subject:

“Found your blog…”

And the message within said:

“And thank you!
You did a spot in Feb about Bodega in Boston and it enabled me to track a VERY old friend of mine, Dan Natola, one of the owners. Since you had pics, I was sure it was him!
I’ve known Danny since prior to first grade and haven’t spoken with him in over a decade!
Thanks a lot!
-Bethany”

Just love it!

Dress Mess

I went to the re-opening of BCBG’s store in town last night, which is now newly renovated and looking pretty good.

After hugging my friend Reebs from FASHION and her staff writer Elisa (their mag was the night’s sponsor) and catching up with an old friend/internship mentor from LA who is now a special events manager at BCBG (she flew in for the event), I booked it upstairs with my girl Aims to gawk at a short, cream strapless dress with chiffon ruffles that I — the week prior — decided should be my wedding dress.

The reasoning for a short dress? I’ve been totally inspired by that short, ruffled Lanvin number Carrie wore in the Vogue wedding dress shoot scene during the Sex and the City movie.

And I’m thinking bare-legged with awesome gold gladiator heels to go it with.

Please don’t ask me why I’m thinking about wedding dresses, considering my current (and technical) “me, myself & I” status.

Anyway, I tried on the very pretty frock after some convincing from an adorable BCBG lady.

The ruffles unfortunately made me look way hippy-er than I’d want on my wedding day, so back on the rack the dress went, but here are some website images of it for your viewing pleasure.

I’m Lovin’ it: I spent a good amount of time yesterday mixing and matching outfits on illustrator J. David McKenney’s Dress Me Up Retro Dolls section on his site. Check out the 70s chica below I dressed below — she has a waaaay better outfit on than me right now.

I’m Over it: At the BCBG event last night, I swear the event photographer was hell bent on catching me in the most unflattering poses if all time. Then I was handed a card with the website they’ll be going up on this November 7. Can’t wait till those to go public.

Track of the Day: “Impossible” by the Shout Out Louds. I was obsessed with this band’s track “Tonight I Have To Leave It”, so it was high time to get obsessed with something else from their song portfolio.

Big Brown Boots

My beloved grey boots —which have been through everything with me in the past year — are getting holes at under the tips.

This means when rain hits, my socks get wet. Really, really wet.

This also means that besides taking said boots to the cobbler for a-fixin’, it might be high time for new boots. Which I found this weekend.

These babies from Industry are light brown leather with suede chevron stripes and I, naturally, adore them. My newbie booties go surprisingly well with deep purple and dark royal blues!

Here’s a sneak peek for y’all.

I’m Lovin’ it: These gold-dipped Nikes from Ju$t Another Rich Kid, aka. Ken Courtney. Hey, gold is the commodity to have this recession.

I’m Over it: Putting a new recipe to the test tonight for DB’s belated bday dinner. Kitchens and I don’t usually mix all that well. Yikes!

Track of the Day: “Into Everything” by Telepopmusik. The video’s kind of rad, too.

Evan & Dean on Fashion Week Daily!!

OMG!!

My friends Lyle Reimer and Raymond Boutet — who are the sweetest two people ever — from Evan & Dean made it on a post for Fashion Week Daily’s Chic Report!!!!

So, so excited for them!

Especially when Chic Report said, “Keep an eye out for these folks -– we see Bergdorf Goodman on the horizon. Linda Fargo, is that you?”

Of course they belong in Bergdorfs! And in Henri Bendel. And in Saks Fifth. And in Barneys.

Congratulations, Lyle and Raymond…you deserve every happiness and success…xo! :)

Happy Friday!!

This weekend is going to be a low-key one for sure.

Got to save the energy for next Friday’s Halloween debacle and then a girl’s night on out Saturday. Double trouble!

I treated myself to a new silk, gold-on-gold striped top yesterday — j’adore! Love the stripes, but even more so love the two fabric button closures on the top of the back. God, gold gets me every time.

Yep, that’s my apartment in the back, too.

Happy Friday, eveyone!

Nooooooo!

The Gilt Group was selling Doo.Ri’s draped jersey vest in black for a mere $223, but it sold out.

I remember the first time seeing this vest…it was in a deep green shade and I loved it right away.

Aw, shucks.

I’m Lovin’ it: My new iPhone!! And Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are on Oprah today, talking about their new hardcover book Influence. So watching it. Here’s a pic from said new iPhone! FYI, that’s Ashley on the left, Mary Kate on the right.

I’m Over it: Eh, I’m in good spirits today.

Track of the Day: Did I shout out “Missed The Boat” by Modest Mouse already?
